DABOMB 1.3.15 — SDL ARCADE CONTROLLER MAPPINGS October 7, 2026 WHAT'S NEW - Includes the SDL_GameControllerDB community database for additional controllers and arcade panels, including the Windows AtGames Legends Gamer Pro USB mapping. - Load your own SDL2 mappings from saves/gamecontrollerdb.txt before startup. Personal action remaps and explicit SDL mapping settings remain supported. - The game and update installer load the same mappings. Unsupported devices report their names and GUIDs for troubleshooting. Your saves, gameplay remaps, FPS settings and content packs remain compatible. One action per press and the other improvements from earlier releases remain. PLAY EDITOR Create or edit up to nine offensive plays with formation, receiver routes, primary receiver and two-line names. Direct entry has no editor countdown. Save Plays writes your changes while leaving the editor open; Save/Exit asks whether to save before leaving. Follow the displayed Apply binding to save. In Set Audibles, choose Offense or Defense, then Audible 1, 2 or 3, then a play. Confirm assigns the highlighted play. Back cancels the preview without changing it. Page uses the left face button and Flip uses the top face button: Xbox X/Y, Nintendo Y/X and PlayStation Square/Triangle. Keyboard uses L/I. Editor page and Editor flip are independent actions in Controller Config, so changing your Turbo or Blitz Passing binding does not change editor navigation. Prompts follow their effective remaps and active device. Defensive audibles choose existing plays. Custom creation is offensive. When choosing plays in a match, Turbo cycles pages; your custom plays appear on PAGE 5. Saved audibles use the existing pre-snap Blitz + left/right controls. Saved plays stay with your name/PIN and portable saves. FRAME RATE AND GRAPHICS The default limit is 60 FPS. Use left/right to choose a limit, select Apply, then Keep changes. Revert or the 15-second timeout restores the previous setting. Your confirmed choice stays saved for the next launch. Actual FPS depends on your PC. VSync can limit FPS to your display's refresh rate, even with a higher limit or Unlocked selected. The game keeps its original 57-step-per-second pace independently of the chosen frame rate. Windowed, fullscreen and borderless modes are available. Choose MSAA or FXAA for antialiasing; they cannot be enabled together. INCLUDED IMPROVEMENTS - Original numbered player arrows, including player one in solo matches. - Improved catch and throw animations, with the original arcade play rules. - Loading progress on startup and during in-game installation. - Restart now after a successful update, when you choose to reopen the game. - Custom attract videos, annual content packs and portable saves. - Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch button prompts and action remapping. INSTALLATION Extract the entire archive into a folder you can write to. Linux: run DaBomb.sh. You may need to allow it to execute in your file manager. Windows: run DaBomb.exe. Keep all included files and folders together. No system video codecs are needed. SAVES AND MANUAL UPGRADES Profiles, controls, settings, progress and created plays live in saves/ beside the game. Close the game before moving its folder or replacing files. For a manual upgrade, extract the new download into the same installation while preserving saves/ and your local videos/. Older AppImage saves need a separate manual migration into the portable folder. IN-GAME UPDATES A main-menu notice appears when a newer release is available. Open it with the displayed Confirm action, or use Options > Game Updates, to view the changes. Choose Download now to start the download; Cancel leaves the game unchanged. When the download is complete, choose Install now or Install on exit. Install now closes the game and shows installation progress. After successful installation, choose Restart now using the mouse, Enter/Space, or your controller's Confirm action. Closing the installer leaves the game closed. Install on exit finishes without reopening the game. Saves and local videos are preserved. The download is deleted after success; failed installations keep it for a retry. Updates do not create a backup or offer rollback. Updating from an older installer uses its previous progress display during that first upgrade. CONTROLLERS AND JOINING The game includes SDL_GameControllerDB community mappings for additional controllers and arcade panels, including the Windows AtGames Legends Gamer Pro USB mapping. Recognition depends on the device's reported identity and mode. For a device without a matching entry, an SDL2 mapping file can be placed at saves/gamecontrollerdb.txt before starting the game. This overrides bundled mappings without changing your action remaps. Explicit SDL mapping settings remain supported. Unknown layouts are not assigned guessed button functions. Use physical Start to join: Menu on Xbox, Options on PlayStation, or + on Nintendo Switch. On keyboard, use Space. Choose a player station with the D-pad or stick, press Start to mark Ready, then press Start again to continue. Back withdraws a joined player. Player participation resets each launch; your profiles and remaps stay saved. Default controls: - Bottom face button: Jump / Confirm (Xbox A, Nintendo B, PlayStation Cross). - Right face button: Pass / Switch / Back (Xbox B, Nintendo A, PlayStation Circle). - Left trigger: Turbo. - Hold right trigger: Blitz Passing. - Right trigger + left/right before the snap: audible selection. - Start during a match: Pause. Prompts follow your action bindings and last active device, including keyboard. Choose the controller family manually if needed. Vibration can be changed in Options from the main menu or pause menu. The play editor has direct entry with no countdown. Saved plays stay in saves/. ANNUAL CONTENT PACKS The download includes the original BLITZ 2000 arcade revision 1.5 content. Close the game and put exactly one annual .dbpack in saves/content/updates/. Leave the archive intact, then restart. The edition appears in the main menu. To change editions, close the game and replace the pack. Remove it and restart to return to the original 2000 content. Controls and settings stay shared. Each annual edition starts its own progress; updates to the same edition keep it. Removing a pack preserves its annual saves. Content-pack instructions: https://nfl-blitz.com/downloads/Content-Packs-README.txt CUSTOM ATTRACT VIDEOS Place optional MP4 files in videos/ beside the launcher, then restart. Supported names: Main_Title.mp4, Midway.mp4, NFL_Logo.mp4, Blitz.mp4, Running.mp4, Cheerleaders.mp4 and Hut.mp4. Use one file per name. Export SDR H.264 MP4, up to 1920x1080 at 60 FPS, between 1 and 180 seconds, and at most 256 MiB. Audio is optional; use AAC-LC mono or stereo. The game preserves aspect ratio. Native 4K or AV1 input files are not accepted. Missing, duplicate or unsupported replacements use the original movie. Main_Title.mp4 keeps the active annual pack's logo, narration and ending fades. Other movies use their own picture and soundtrack. Local videos are independent of annual packs. Remove a replacement while the game is closed and restart to restore its original movie.
